Managing School and life

We have all been at the point where we have too much work and just need a break. The problem is how do manage time to do my work and studies but also have time to relax and watch TV or be with friends. The solution is setting yourself boundaries that you can follow no matter what. What does this mean? It means setting days or block schedules that work in your favor.

When to set these boundaries? it can be anytime because it depends on the person. Some like to make plans for that day while others might make plans for the week. Some might even make plans for the month! Find what times you can squeeze in some relaxing time. It might be after your work, before your work, or even between work. For example, let's take an example of how a student took these "boundaries" in her own way. One student was very tired after coming home from school. She decided she needed to take a 30min nap. So she did and woke up. Since she relaxed for some time she hopped straight to work after waking up. For the next 3 to 4 hours she set herself a focused study time. For different people with different Schedules, classes, jobs, events, and personal things this can be difficult and different for everyone. Since she had a test in 3 weeks she didn't feel rushed and decided to study later. So after her work, she decided she had done enough for today. Since it was the evening she chose to take a jog and read before sleeping and eating. The week before the test however she decided not to jog and take a nap since she had a test. She decided to fully focus on her test and school that week. After the test however on Saturday, she treated herself to a day at the mall with her friends. After she came back she still did some work and studies for 2 to 3 hours and relaxed for the rest of the day.

This is a perfect example of setting boundaries. By planning out the day, the student was able to find time to relax and finish work. If her schedule didn't work in her favor and she had no time for relaxing then she simply skipped it and squeezed in time later throughout the week or later that day. Managing time can be difficult but by planning out each week or day you are sure to have an easier time getting some time in both worlds. Keep in mind that schedules can change every week or every day. Part of a student's job is working hard no matter the situation and adapting to these changes. If you can't relax now, work hard and relax later. There will be some stressful times since there are new things to do and work for every week, but by planning out and setting boundaries you are sure to get as much relaxing time as possible while still making sure you stay on track with work and studies.
